had a great positive experience! have had 2 Optifast shakes over the course of the day and Water but going very slowly at it. i was able to pick up my baby and had a nap- on my side- with a little pillow to support , as was suggested above. I am shocked at how good i feel. my nurses warned me about tmw.

these boards have really helped me.

Catherine33- our stats are very simliar, i was a low bmi bander as well. i have been reading your blog alot. thanks for being so candid and vulnerable on it.

Yay, Congrats! I was just banded 3 days ago as well. I know exactly what you mean about not really believing you have a band inside you. I am not sure it has really set in for me yet!

It's good to hear all the positives. One more week for me and I hope I am not in too much pain or have gas too bad...

I was banded today too and it was super easy!! I'm not in much pain from my incisions, it's the gas pain the hurts the worst! It's only comfortable when I stand and walk. I don't know how I'm going to sleep tonigt! Any ideas? I'll try the pillow thing. I'm a stomach sleeper also!!

Thank you so much for that idea. I did sleep with a pillow on top last night in case the cat decided to walk on me.

I'll take that advice!! I was just banded this morning. Doing well. Prolly over doing it a bit because the pain meds have me HYPER. They said to walk so I've been doing lots of that.

Congrats to everyone newly banded and good luck to those who are about to be banded. Oh and congrats to my niece who got married today...I won't forget her wedding anniversary that's for sure~

My gas pains set in about 4 days later. The only thing I found to be helpful is to walk and lift your left arm up and bend your arm over your head (Heard to explain but kind of like if you were to scratch your right shoulder blade? I don't know if that makes any sense but I had the pains that would literally make me shiver and that seemed to help me alot!

Good luck to you all! :juggle:

I was banded on July 29th and other than feeling a little bit tired, I feel great!!! I made sure I walked around and took some gas x strips as soon as I felt that gas pain. So far, I can say it's been a great experience. I don't have port pain either. My doctor put it in the middle of my abdomen rather than the side, which I am happy with, given that I am a side sleeper!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
