I met with the dietien again today and I have now lost the required amount of lbs for them to send off the letter to the insurance asking for the approval. They said it could take 30-60 days before I hear back. Getting scared the closer it is. I forgot to ask them once I meet with the surgeon how long after that before the surgery....

I still not sure when to notify work that I will be off for a week.

Hey I am curious, what does mushies or pureed food consist of that everyone eats?

I ate a lot of cottage cheese, mashed potatoes (some surgeons disallow potatoes), yogurt, pudding, somewhat liquidy Cream of Wheat, etc. You can also eat a variety of mushed tubers and squash, creamy Soups, and the like

I forgot the difference between liquid and mush :)

I've read that some doctors prefer you not eat mushies, that you go from liquid to solid... guess it just depends on the surgeon. I think I may be going from full liquid to solids-not even 100% sure.

My sheet says you can thin mash potatoes & refried Beans by putting them in the blender or processor.

What kind of place do you work at? This decision is difficult. I chose to be up front with my boss eventually because she had mentioned to me before how she can't stand lying and she really is interested in my health and getting me back after the surgery. I knew I would feel really bad if I wasn't up front.

You just have to decide what's best for you.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
