Knowing why is important. When I lived in South Africa I was part of an organisation that helped to introduce workplace qualifications. A really important part of those qualifications was the Underpinning knowledge - UK.

E.g If you tell a trainee chef to use different coloured chopping boards for different types of food they might follow that for a while. But there will come a time when they will think what is the point of this, its just extra work for no valid reason or the boss being awkward or whatever. However if they are taught the reason behind it which is obviously to reduce the risk of cross contamination, food poisoning etc they are more likely to always do it.

It seem every dr has a different way of doing this anyway... My dr had us on regular food day 4...just no carbs.

Who knows who's correct just as long as it works.

The bottem line....What does your post-op directions say?? THAT'S what you need to follow. It's not a DIET it's directions to help you recover from major surgery!

Protein shakes are available in any grocery store, Protein powder too in most.

Hope you contact your Dr and get back with the program. You can do this and be successful! :bored:

I say vacation or not - go purchase a magic bullett or small blender & don't put anything into your mouth that is not MUSH...........!!!!

Why put the time and effort, and expense into having surgery if you ignore the rules. I know it sounds cruel - but if you want the band to work for you - you have to work with it!!!!

If you've cheated on diets all your life then why have surgery if you're just going to cheat on it too? There is a reason why we're put on these post op diets!! You shouldn't have had the surgery if you weren't going to take it serious and change your lifestyle. If your lifestyle is cheating and you're not changing it, then why go under the knife? Lap Band isn't a quick fix, it's a tool!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
