Increased bruising

Recommended Posts

Ive been banded since January 2008 and have done well as far as having hardly any probs.

The past few months I have noticed that I keep bruises. They're small and I usually have about 3-4 at a time. I havent been without bruises for a few months. I keep them on my arms and thighs. Just wondering if anyone else had this going on.

I'm not on any oral NSAIDS and I dont take A daily Aspirin or anything like that.

Thanks

Perhaps you should scheule an appointment with your primary care physician and discuss this with her/him. Your physician would probably run some blood test, coagulation labs for example. Your doctor will give you the best answer.

Between now and the time you get in with your doctor, tracking your intake on a site such as Fitday can give you a good idea whether you're getting adequate Vitamin C and Vitamin K--both affect blood coagulation/bruising, and bumping up their intake can be helpful.

i bruise alot too now...i've had all of my Vitamin levels checked numerous times and everythings is always "normal"

i couldn't even tell you where half of my bruises come from...you would think i would remember some of them, expecially when they're large and colorful!

i've stopped worrying...my docs don't seem too concerned since everything is normal and usually they don't even hurt???

mine are always small and they dont hurt either and its mostly my arms. I have gotten a couple on my thighs but generally its the underside of my arm and I dont even knoe they're there until someone asks what Ive been doing to get so bruised up.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
