Hi!! I was banded on July 8th..(congrats BTW)

I WISH I was burping!! The gas pain sat in my chest and HURT like a 24 hour heart attack! it felt soo good to burp to release some gas! LOL

But from what I have read, you will have alot of gas for a couple weeks (whether it sits or comes out) bc of the CO2 that they pump in your stomache during the surgery...

I know its not lady like, but I'd rather burp all day than sit in pain :wink2:

My gas started to move into the back and was so painful ..i am a baby  but it's FINALLY getting better.

remember...WALK WALK WALK! It helps the gas! as far as you getting out of breath, are you walking too fast? remember we had major surgery, so take it easy...

and if it doesnt get better...ALWAYS consult your doctor!!

GOOD LUCK!!

I NEVER burped b4 my band- now I can take a sip of Water and sound like a grown man burping... :scared2:there are days that I am more out of breath than others- mostly around the fill time or my period cycle...

Good luck with your journey...

Yes, there are several thread somewhere around here regarding this subject. Post banding the burping is pretty bad, but it subsides, not totally, but it does get better.

As for breathing, that is probably the result of the surgery. Take about 10 really deep breaths a couple of times a day for a few days and see if that helps.

I am still burping, just not quite as bad and I had problems with breathing for about a week or a little more. I don't have that issue now.

Take care of yourself.

I burped alot after surgery. I also had alot of gurgling going on in my stomach for the first couple of months. I dont burp half as much now and the gurgling has subsided. Just be patient and it will all work itself out! Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
