Hi all,

I am almost 2 weeks postop and am in bandster hell! lol. I have to admit when I was on the preop diet for 10 days, this wasn't so bad and I wasn't allowed as much as I am now! I think reason being is I had a little sample menu thing I went off of. I am also disappointed (and I know this is the time for healing), but on my 10-day preop diet I lost 9 pounds.

I was banded on 07/07 and have been fluctuating from 241 to 244. I was 248.8 when I had surgery. So, I am getting frustrated that I have not at least gotten down to 239. I want to be in the 230s so badly!!

So, I don't know why I am not losing anything and fluctuating between 2 and 3 pounds for the last week! I know I shouldn't stress about this, as I know this is the time to heal and not worry about weight. I have been walking for exercise and for the last 2 days have gotten in my 64 ounces of Water a day.

Can you guys give me some ideas of what you are eating and how often on your full liquids phase? I am progressing to pureed on Tuesday.

Thanks bunches!!

Paulette

I am about to go back to solids on Monday, but during my full liquids I just drank a couple Protein Shakes a day (2-4). Occasionally I had a cream Soup of some kind (I made my own once so I didn't have to strain stuff out of it) but those Soups are full of carbs and other bad stuff which I'm trying to stay away from (I figure, since I had a 3 week pre-op diet where I ate almost no carbs, why start back on them now?). You can do fun stuff with the Protein shakes to keep it interesting. There is a thread in the food and nutrition section which lists a lot of Protein Shake recipes. Good luck!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
