Dry Lips??? Help!

Recommended Posts

Carmex also contains methylsalicylate--not an issue for most, but problematic for those of us with aspirin allergies.

Please don't underestimate the importance of getting enough good-quality fat in the diet. It doesn't have to be much--it's just that most of us, in our (appropriate) efforts to pare down on fat take it a little too far.

A teaspoon of olive oil, a serving of fish oil supplement (Coromega supplements are very good, and have none of the fishy aftereffects that can be so gross), a little finely-ground flax seed (ground JUST before using so that it retains its Omega benefits) in yogurt, or a serving of a fatty fish such as salmon or tuna can make a HUGE difference in skin and hair quality.

I am complete lip care pyscho! I have always used different products but for the past 6 years or so I have been using Aquaphor and I couldn't be happier with it. I can't even use anything else at this point. I keep a tube in my bag, a tub by my bed and a TUB in my office...Can't recommend it enough!

I agree with ALL of the above, but... you may want to also check to see if you have a yeast type infection in the mouth, sorta like thrush that babies get.

A couple years ago I kept having peeling lips, nothing would work, it was weird for me. I tried everything and it wasn't working. I finally went to the doc and she said try miconozale, the stuff they use for yeast infections, and.. it worked!! Theoretically you should be able to use a good yogurt too. Anyway... just a 2nd opinion and different view... and something to think about it it doesn't go away.

Definitely keep drinking that Water though!!

UPDATE:

I finally have a hold on my peeling lip problem. Here's what I found:

1) The two lip treatments that work best for me are blistex in the blue tub (or is it carmex?) and BURTS BEES original lip balm. Burt's bees is really the only thing that helps significantly thou. I buy it in huge quantities from eBay, lol.

2) I am trying to drink more Water but I haven't really seen a correlation there. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt thou.

3) Most Importantly: I said in my original post that I took a Vitamin daily. But truthfully I only remembered sporadically. I started with a new personal trainer who made sure I took a Vitamin pill EVERYDAY and also has me on a daily Protein shake that is very high in Vitamins. I found that as long as I remember to take my vitamin EVERY SINGLE DAY, my dry lips clear up in about one week. However, if I forget to take my vitamin for even two days in a row, my lips start “shedding” again and it takes a week of daily Vitamins to fix them. I looked online and it says a deficiency in the vitamin B2 and a few other vitamins can cause this condition, so I guess that’s what’s going on with me. It also suggests taking a daily hair & nail supplement which I also do for my hair that is falling out.

I just wanted to share this discovery with you, I hope if anyone else is having a similar problem this will help.
