Help!! 7 months since surgery no weight loss

Recommended Posts

Hi! I had my surgery on December 31,2009. I lost about 11lbs right after surgery. Gained all 11lbs back. I have went for 4 fills now and finally have good restriction. I was hoping to be down 60lbs by now. Has anyone else experienced anything kinda like this. :cursing::confused::confused:

It's really hard to know without knowing your eating history.

How many calories a day do you consume?

How many do you expend (through exercise of any kind)?

Do you drink fluids (Soup is a liquid, so is chili) with your meals and/or an hour to hour-and-a-half after?

Do you drink additional calories?

There are any number of reasons, but the key is the fewer calories in (@1,200, give or take 100 either way), combined with moderate exercise will (should) give you the 1 to 2 pounds a week you were expecting.

I would start with a daily food log of any and everything I put into my mouth (include portion size).

Then after a week, it should be pretty easy to see where your diet needs to be adjusted.

And remember: no fluids/liquids with and after meals.

Good luck to you.

ME! I had surgery 12-8-08 and im down between 15-18lbs depending on the day. I found restriction about a month ago but still trying to find my sweet spot. I thought I had it but then I was too tight and had to have an unfill and now im eating more than I think I should? Ive had 5 fills and im at 8.2 in a 10cc band.

oh ok, i feel a little better now. i was beginning to think i was the only one. tuesday i went to see my dr. and he said i was eating wrong. i was eating soups/soft foods. so since tuesday i have been eating Protein before eating anything else. trying not to eat anything sweet/chips. i think that's where i went wrong. eating smalls things that will crumble.

I would record everything you consume - you'd be surprised how fast the calories add up....I know I was! LOL

Once you do that, reduce your intake to around 1,200 - 1,500 calories. I try to avoid any processed food. I strive to eat only lean meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, and NO sugar.

Hope that helps...

I am at a year post-op and only down about 18-20 - my doc thinks I am eating too many carbs or soft foods that are adding up to too many calories but I am pretty tight and do not feel I am overeating especially considering what I used to it - I eat very little these days but weight is coming off so slow. It is discouraging.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
