BlackCatLady 0 Posted July 15, 2009 Does anyone know of an insurance company that will take over and cover, i.e. the fills for my lapband, etc? We lost coverage when my husband changed jobs and I'm wondering if there's any coverage out there that's affordable that will cover my fills? Thanks for any info! lapbandtalker 0 Posted July 17, 2009 Get COBRA, fast. And then get the govt to subsidize your premium..... just saw it on Oprah, Suze Orman. Just something to check into. But then if you live near a doc who participates in fill centers the fills are 160 bucks.
BlackCatLady 0 Posted July 17, 2009 Thanks for the reply. We did check into Cobra -- it's 4 times what our normal payments were, so it's out of reach. My doctors' fill are only $75 without insurance, so they're OK. I'm just worried about having problems with the band and ending up in the hospital and how to cover it then. (Already had to go into the hospital for a revision). I'm afraid to get any fills, though, for fear of problems and no insurance.

Depending on your income, you may be able to get temporary/emergency medicaid coverage.

dle204 0 Posted October 6, 2009 HI I am in the same situation and looking hard for health insurance. Cobra is VERY expensive... escpecially when my wife and I are both on unemployment. I am trying to get private halth insurance but some places will not even take an application till I am two years post surgery and others will underwrite the policy but with a rider that no fills or issues with the band will be covered for one year. I can pay for my own fills but that could be REALLY bad if something where to go wrong and I need a revision. Any one else have similar issues and who did you go with. Any help would be appreciated.:frown:
Padanelle 2 Posted October 6, 2009 If you qualify for COBRA, the government is now covering 65% of the bill for 9 months. Your former employer should be able to provide the info.
