I started my liquid diet today... and I'm already hungry

Recommended Posts

Hey guys!

So I started MediTrim Today and so far not so bad. (But I only had one so far.) My patient coordinator told me I could add sugar free Starbucks Flavours in it and it makes it taste pretty good. I added Hazelnut and ice and it tasted like an Ice cap for Tim's (Canadian coffee place).

As for the hunger pains... ahhh it's my first day and I had a shake at 7:30am and it's 9:30am and I'm hungry. And I can't have another shake until noon for lunch. But again it's the first day. I'll try to survive.

A little off topic, but I had horrific nightmares last night. Like crazy ones that didn't make any sense what so ever. I think I just freaked myself out. I couldn't sleep at all! Did anyone else have this?

Anyways wish me luck guys!!!!! Only 14 days to go until surgery!

Hey there Cammy! I know you can do it. I also am getting banded as you know the same date as you. I haven't started yet but I know it will be rough when I do. Im pretty sure I only have to do a week. Something you might try to help you out that I have heard from a lot of people is sugar free gum. It makes you feel like you are eating. Also drinks lots of Water. Water will help you be fuller. Try a V-8 juice if you like them. I don't personally like them but they say those are good for you. Good Luck and I know you can do it. Keep thinking it will be worth it in the long run!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
