how often do you get fills?

Recommended Posts

I find I have this annoying cycle. I get a fill, lose weight (usually, 10-15 pounds pretty quickly), have perfect restriction while losing (eat 4-6 well chewed bites, wait for 20 minutes, a few more and I am done for HOURS), then, fill sort of wears off, I assume due to weight loss and I stop losing. However, the fact I have less restriction means that food doesn't "stop" and it gets stuck in the band. I am going in next week but, in the meantime, what are GOOD foods that won't get stuck at this stage? I eat a great Breakfast (smoothie with spinach and berries, no sugar) and then it goes WAY down hill (bacon, potato chips) I am not gaining but feel gross! (Down 61 so far! 47 more to go! I love my band!)

I am getting fills every two weeks- four total fills- the most I have ever received at a fill was 1 cc. So I haven't reached restriction yet but have had two episodes of getting stuck after eating too fast and not chewing well. Don't mean to derail your thread but can you expand on what you mean by now that you have less restriction the food gets stuck???

My doctor only does fills every two months as far as I can tell from what I've read. I was only banded a week ago, and I know he won't fill before two monts, but in my paperwork, it says I'll only see him every two months for the first year for adjustments unless I have a problem.

I did get fills every 4-6 weeks; now just when I need them.

I was getting a fill every 4 weeks. My last fill was 5/13 when he brought me up to 10cc's - I felt the restriction so much more that I scheduled my next appointment for 12 weeks later.

Wow, That's a lot of fill. What size band do you have?

I have a 14cc band - I just went in today and only asked for a 1/2 cc since I still have restriction and didn't want to be too tight. Plus - I still want to have room to grow. He was satisfied because I lost 15 pounds since my last appointment. I am still able to eat everything and more so at night so my weight loss is not as fast as some others but I'm ok with it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
