RobinS 0 Posted July 14, 2009 I am so thrilled to find this forum. I had my surgery on June 18th and have checked posts on this forum several times to help answer questions and ease concerns. You guys are such a supportive and helpful bunch of people!! I go in for my first fill on July 16th. My doctor does not put anything in the band when he does surgery so this is truly my first fill. I am excited to experience the difference. I thought something was wrong with me cause I was not filling satisfied with a half cup of food. After reading the posts on fills I now understand. Again, I am really pleased to have found this forum and thank you all for your informative posts.
*susan* 1,709 Posted July 15, 2009 Hi Robin, thank you for joining us! With regards to fill, just remember that you may not feel the restriction you are looking for after the first fill. Some times it takes several before you reach your "sweet spot." However, I believe it is better to be more conservative than aggressive with fills, as being over filled is miserable and can cause problems. Good luck on your journey. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
Mellzy 0 Posted July 16, 2009 Hey, i am wanting to have the banding done in the next few weeks, how painfull is it when you wake up?? and how long do you need off work?? i work for my family in an office..... Thanks Melissa
SpecialK 22 Posted July 17, 2009 Melissa - I was really fine just a few hours after surgery, as a matter of fact, I think I could have gone home and slept in my own bed and been happier but our hospital's program requires an overnight stay. I have an office job and I had surgery on a Monday and was back to work the next Monday. I could have done light tasks even Thurs or Friday but it all depends on what you do. I'd say 1 week for an office type job is usually fine.
RobinS 0 Posted July 17, 2009 Melissa, I had my surgery in the morning and was home by that afternoon. I was uncomfortable that day and the next but mainly from all of the gas and pressure. I work from home and was up the next day after surgery on the phone and computer for the better part of the day. Good luck with your surgery!! I am excited for you.
