I am about 6 weeks post-op and can eat all foods (except Breads, Pasta, etc.). I don't have any fills.

Last night at dinner I was eating some Tilapia and some well done string Beans and about 3 bites in I got some minor pain and had to stop eating. Got a lot of slimey stuff in my mouth and thought I was in trouble because I read these boards alot. I realized that I was eating the food like the old days, kind of just shoving it in without worry. Started to get red faced and sweaty and my family was getting worried. I told everyone to relax. I just stopped eating for a couple of minutes and it subsided. Nothing came up. I was able to finish my meal and felt fine afterwords.

Was this an almost "PB"?

Whatever it was, it was kind of a wake up call to focus more when I eat. Definite user error on this.

Thanks for any thoughts....

Kinda sorta. Only nothing came up. It's just a warning to slow down and chew.

I think that would be called "getting stuck" more than "PB" (which means you're burping up junk).

But I'm a n00b and don't have a band yet, so what do I know?

Using message board terms:

You slimed.

You did not PB.

If the food would not have gone down on its own, it could have led to a PB - or vomit.

Slow down. Small bites. Chew lots.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
