Something's gone wrong...

Recommended Posts

My sister had kidney stones once. She was doing Adkins, but not very well. She was eating fatty gross meat all the time, very few veggies and no Fiber, not enough Water. That's not really Adkins. Anyhow, she got stones. She's no wimp and she was brought to her knees. It was horrible to watch. Here's the kicker, though.

She has 4 ureters, not just 2. They discovered it during her stone episode, and she shares this hereditary feature with my cousin, that we know of. They both have 2 lobes in each kidney, and each lobe has it's own ureter to the bladder. Double the chance for traveling little glass shards, ouch! We had kidded that she could donate 2 kidneys and have 2 left, and make a bundle on the black market. Wonder if that is something to solve her financial woes and get her a band? Kidding.

Anyway. Ouch is right. And Princess, I don't think they have to be all that big to be painful, but some are big enough to fish out of the toilet? Some are never found. But you know they are gone because the pain is gone.

Just how big is a "big" kidney stone? One that's worthy of fishing out and taking back to the doc to say "here's my backache!"?

A friend who suffers with lots kidney stones told me it was caused by too many dark green leafy veggies, such as spinach. Might want to ask your doctor if some foods tend to cause the Calcium build up more than others.

Harley, I think you might be thinking of the Uric Acid kind. If you have stones caused by uric acid you can actually take a pill that will dissolve them. For Calcium, the best thing to do is drink tons of Water. Also, if you don't get much calcium in your diet your body can try to extract the calcium from your bones which is harder on the body and apparently can cause a buildup in the kidney.

As for me, I'm positive it's hereditary. My dad gets them constantly and I get them about every six months, though usually not this bad. The stone finally passed for me THANK GOODNESS! I'd like to give it up to my peeps Percoset and Morphine.

Don't be afraid to demand answers. Dr's are only people NOT God (i think they sometimes get confused). It's your body (and mind) and they have to respect that by keeping you informed.

It'll will be sorted out and you can carry on as planned.

Best wishes, Rachel.

I'm sure you're correct, but she did say something about the Calcium build up and that it is caused by the dark green veggies and a few other food items. She was even given a list as to what foods to stay away from. Couldn't hurt to ask the doctor.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
