How long did you take of work?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how long everyone took off work when they had their surgeries?

A few people at work got the band and one was back on Saturday after surgery on Wednesday. A few took a week. I myself had my surgery on Wednesday the 8th of July and I'm still home. I'm planning on staying home tomorrow as well, and I will see about Wednesday when it gets here. Of course I have a job where I can sit all day if I need to and my boss is accommodating. She's so accommodating that she said I can come in at 4am till noon to avoid people if I wanted. I may try that on Thursday. I may go in at 4am and work till maybe 9. I'll see when it gets closer.

I had surgery on Tuesday, July 7, and I'm a teacher, so luckily, I'm off for the summer. However, I'm in graduate school, and I had to give a presentation on Saturday. I made it to class fine, but by 1:00 I was DONE! I had to leave early (classes are from 8-3), and when I got home, I crashed! After I woke up, I had my first BM since the night after surgery, and I've felt much better since that. So, my point to this TMI is that if you are functioning normally otherwise, you will probably be okay. If I had to go back to class today, I'm sure I could make it the entire time.

Each person is different though, so just listen to your body and don't be harder on yourself than you have to be.

I took off one week. You know, some folks don't have any pain, but for some reason I was DYING on the left hand side. The doc said they cut through muscle there. So it was really hard for me to sit up straight for any length of time. I also have a desk job. Hilariously, after only a few days back, my department (without me!!!) and another one, got together to have a huge Potluck meal before the long weekend. My boss brought in the most hugest pan of chicken Broccoli Ziti. I was miserable at my desk while everyone else ate and I was still on a liquid diet. But okay, back to my incisions...yeah, I was in pain. But I had the surgery on Monday the 22nd (of June) and went back the following week. I could've used a few more days. But it's a desk job. I sucked it up. When I hear that folks go back to work the next day I'm like Wha????

I had my surgery first thing on a friday morning and I was back to work the following Wed....I could have forced myself to go back to work on Tues but I really am glad I took an extra day as I felt much better on Wed then I did on Tues. Keep in mind that my MD did my surgery with only 1 incision and I have a real lax desk job and was able to take a nap on my lunch break. I used liquid tylenol during the day to ensure I wasn't in any pain.

My surgery was on Thursday morning, I went back to work Friday afternoon for a few hours and then back full day on Monday. I sit at a desk all day and didn't lift or move anything, I brought my DH for that!!!

I had my surgery almost 2 years ago but I remember it well. Was up and running the halls in the hospital after I went to my room from recovery. Got out of the hosptial next morning and went to church that night. My surgeon said to take off 7 to 10 days. I could have gone back to work on day 3 but took 9 days. My pain level was zero even after waking up in recovery. It all depends on each individual and what type of work they do. I agree with the statement, listen to your body.

Surgery on Wednesday and back to work on Monday. I have a desk job with a very short (30 feet) walk from my parking spot to my desk. Any sooner would probably have been too soon for me. I was still moving pretty slow on Monday, but felt good.

I had mine Tuesday July 7th (which included a hiatal hernia repair) and went back to work today (13th). I have a desk job but was up and down today just because it felt good to do so. By 5pm my incisions (all 5 of them) were getting a little sore I guess from just moving though nothing that I hadn't been doing already at home. I did take a teaspoon of pain meds and an anti anxiety about two hours before work, it seems to help with the spasms. It didn't make me drowsy or anything, but takes the edge off of the spasms.

It would have been nice to continue hanging out at home with my cats, we had a nice cycle. I'd take meds, we'd all sleep, and then start over again.

I'm still unable to burp when I'd like which is causing me to have painful spasms, but otherwise I think it went well today.

I haven't had surgery yet. I am planning to take one week. I have enough time to take 2 if needed, however. I have observed probably 6 or 7 people who work for the same employer as I do who have had this surgery and came back to work (office environment) in a week or less. If I feel better in less than a week I will come back to work, if I still feel like crap a week out, I will take more time

Hi!

Had surgery on Friday and went back to work Tuesday. (Our office is always closed Sat-Mon and reopens Tuesday) I did pretty well, but I did go home after 6 hours on Tuesday due to feeling faint. I felt fine the rest of the week, but still felt more tired than usual. As soon as I was allowed to begin full liquids I felt completely back to normal.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
