Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In

Recommended Posts

I know the idea of a weekly weigh-in has been thrown around a couple times, but I haven't seen an actual thread started on it, sooooo......

What do you think, weekly weigh in?

If so, what day? I'm partial to weekends, just cuz I'm more likely to weigh myself on the weekends, but I'll go with the majority vote.

Thanks for starting this thread! I'm willing to do whatever day works best for everyone else, but I just joined a Labor Day Challenge on the General Thread, and I think we are going to weigh on Mondays, so I thought I'd throw that out there as a suggestion. I can weigh any day though. I don't mind weighing more than once a week and just tracking the different days' weights on different threads.

since there's only a few of us interested so far, and 2 of us don't care what day, let's go with Amy's suggestion of Monday!

that is fine with me so are we tracking our losses, do we want to do a start weight or should we use the weights in our tickers as our start weight.

I say we go with whatever we weigh this coming Monday as our starting weights.

I say pre-op or post-op...doesn't matter to me. Aren't we all trying to lose weight?

i'd really like to see % of weight lost, but i know... that means MATH!

but since i'm heavier than a lot of folks, i like the %'s better. it has more meaning for me.

just my opinion. ;-)

Hi I like this thread. I want to join in. I weighed myself today. I didnt weigh myself before my surgery so I dont know how much I lost preop. I do have my starting weight on the day I was banded though, last Thursday. So four days post op and Ive lost a pound and a half. Not bad.

Surgery Weight--270 (07/07/09)

Today's Weight--262 (07/20/09)

Eight pounds in two weeks is great, but I admit I was still disappointed it wasn't more since I was on liquids the whole time. I only expect the average 1-2 pounds a week once I can eat more normally, but I thought it would be more for my high BMI being only on liquids. Does that even make sense? Anyway, it's a loss, and I'll take it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
