JayTee562 1 Posted July 11, 2009 Just need to vent a minute. Thought all my bills had been received and processed. I recently got a bill from the surgical assistant looked called UHC and they told me it was denied because the surgeon hadn't sent them his bill. Contacted the assistant and the surgeon's office it was resubmitted and they paid $553 of a $2000 bill and indicated I was responsible for the rest....mind you I paid my max out of pocket. I called again and they said that the auditor caught it and that my max had been paid so it was resubmitted. I got an email today that a claim had been processed and looked at their site today and now they are paying none of it and the site says I'm responsible for all $2000. Of course they are closed for the weekend so this will bother me till Monday when I can call them...... My company just switched to UHC this year and I was very positive because I've had them before but this time they are not doing very good.
Jodi_620 37 Posted July 13, 2009 I remember that UHC denied the surgical assistant part of my bill which was $4,000.00, the reason written in was "Procedure must be performed by a surgeon" the assistant is a PA-C. I called the surgeons office and they said that part would just be written off by them and it was. Additionally I just recently had my gallbladder removed and had my Lap Band doc do that procedure too. UHC paid a bill or two submitted for the PA-C's part in it then came back and asked for a refund for the same reason, my surgeon's office refunded the money. Hope it was the same for you.
