Burning in chest

Recommended Posts

I have just presumed for the last few months that I have reflux or something...Dr did a barium swallow 2 visits ago and everything was fine so I havent worried much about it. I went and seen him about 6 weeks ago and he gave me some meds for the burning which I have taken, but it has got to the stage that just about everytime I eat I get this burning in my chest, it doest go into my throat or bring anything up with it, its just like really BAD heartburn. Does anyone else get this? I dont want to get any more fills because I am scared this will get worse. I am at a loss.

Sounds just like what I had, GASTRITIS, different from Reflux

Only detected through endoscopy which is how I found out I had it. Do you burp alot? Do you have a full feeling in your chest?

Gastritis is not a single disease, but means inflammation of the stomach lining. Gastritis can be caused by drinking too much alcohol, prolonged use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), or infection with bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori. Sometimes gastritis develops after major surgery, traumatic injury, burns, or severe infections. Certain diseases, such as pernicious anemia, autoimmune disorders, and chronic bile reflux, can cause gastritis as well.

Symptoms of Gastritis

The most common symptoms are abdominal upset or pain. Other symptoms are belching, abdominal bloating, nausea, and vomiting or a feeling of fullness or of burning in the upper abdomen. Blood in your vomit or black stools may be a sign of bleeding in the stomach, which may indicate a serious problem requiring immediate medical attention.

Ask your Dr. about gastritis. I took prilosec for 2 months nad it got better.

Hi, I know you haven't seen me here before, but I was banded April 2007 and I used to come on the forums back then but stopped a long time ago, but I came back because I started to have burning sensations in my chest and stomach about 2 months ago. I thought it would go away, but it didn't and I just wanted to find out if anyone else was having the same problems and if they had any suggestions. I was going to go to a bariatic doctor, but decided to ask a doctor friend of mine. I told her the symptoms and she said it could be ulcers or gastritis. Anyway she suggested I try Prolosac (maybe spelled wrong) which is an acid reducer. She had some samples in her car and gave them to me. It's a 14-day treatment where you take 1 pill a day in the morning with a glass of Water before eating anything. Well, let me tell you that towards the end of the day (I started yesterday 11/29), I started feeling better. By the time I got home from work (5:30pm) I felt like a new person. Today, 11/30, I'm not burning at all. I'm going to continue the 14-day treatment and see what happens. You can only do this treatment every 4 months, unless instructed by your doctor. All I can say is OMG! It worked and I'm just happy as a bee right now! You can get Prolosac over the counter and they may a stronger prescription version. The generic name for it is Omeprazole. Please, by all means go to your doctor first. I hope this helps.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
