Hi, I was banded June 25th and the first few days post op felt the same. I think most of us do.

I am now 3 weeks post op and feeling great. I have even been able to go out to dinner with DH and friends and stick to my mushies without wanting what everyone else at the table had to eat! It is hard but I believe in a few weeks you will feel it's the best thing you could have done for yourself!!

Good Luck on your new journey.

God Bless you Debbie! It helps to know that there are others in the same boat that feel the same way I do. I was banded on 7-7-09 and today is a little better, but this has been the hardest five days of my life!

Please hang in there. I went throught what you are going through only for a good while. Especially on Father's Day when we took my dad to Ryan's and everyone around me was eating and all I could have was sf Jello. It was completely depressing. But then I realized that the real reason I cried was I was really learning to say goodbye to old habits, the ones that got me into this mess, and it is like saying goodbye to an old "friend". Not a healthy one, but a familiar one. There is not a person single person on this list that has not felt this in one form or another at some point in their journey. So, as stated before, you are not alone by any means.

Just know that you are doing the right thing for you and your health and sometimes the right things are not always the easy things!! We are all here for you, so just keep on keeping on!!!!!:)

Drtoliver, I really like what you wrote. It is so true that we are all looking at making new relationships with our old friend food. This is so necessary, this new relationship, but I will miss this friend. I will miss that big bowl of ice cream in front of the TV. I will miss turning to food when I am upset. It will be hard to replace these habits with new ones that are healthier for me. Maybe you are mourning the death of your old life, your old habits, to be "born again" in your new life. A phoenix out of the ashes!

I will agree about most of the powdered Protein Drinks. They were horrible. Like someone else mentioned, I came across the Isopure Protein drinks with 40 gms of protein per bottle. You can find them at GNC or even order them online. I have tried several flavors and have found them to be the best. If it wasn't for sugar free Jello, I think I would have caved. For me it was one of the little things that made a huge difference. The key is to be willing to try new things. I have a local nutrition store that has sample type servings in some of their products which is what I tried because prior to that I was tossing out some protein drinks I had purchased because they were too nasty to drink. I do find that the premixed ones are better tasting than the powdered ones you have to do yourself.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
