Bandster Hell, Maybe, Bummed

Recommended Posts

Ok so I got banded on May 26th, I have had no fills yet. Not having my first fill until August 3rd on dr.'s recommendations. He let me start eating solid food on July 2nd, which has been great BUT.... I feel like I did before surgery. I am doing good with the not drinking before and after, I am trying to eat healthier. but the portion sizes are slowly creeping up. I haven't gained any weight but I haven't lost either. I read all of the fill stories and now people are on the 2nd and 3rd fills. I have never had anything stuck(thank goodness) but I still feel like I am taking too big bites. I don't get it. I feel like before I had the band. So far my band hasn't been "turned on". Just kinda sucks after all that you go through to get it. I fell like I just went 8 weeks of hell for nothing. :tongue_smilie: Had to vent thanks. :frown:

I'm pretty discouraged as well. My appetite is back full force and the only time I know I'm banded is if I take a really big bite I can feel it squeeze through the band. I know that I just need to get filled so that I have restriction I just wish I was one of the majority (at least it seems) that have enough restriction or at least momentum to be consistently losing.

I am trying hard to stick to smaller portions and healthy food. I am better than I was but still working. Cant wait until I get restriction.

Me too, Minx and jessiel2X I am having fill #2 on July 20. My first fill was 2cc and did not do anything. I have read that sometimes it takes 2wks to feel restriction after a fill. I guess that is why most docs want you to wait so long between fills. I have lost about 25 lbs and just pray I don't start gaining. I have not lost anything in about a month. Good luck to us all. Guess this is bandster hell.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
