I was scheduled for July 15th and the doctors office just called and changed it to July 21st. I know it is only 6 more days but I feel devastated. Like I just lost a million dollars or something. I know I am being irrational and I am lucky that it is such a small delay but when it has taking 8 months to get to this point and you have already started your pre-op diet it is hard to feel good at this point. Words of encouragement would be appreciated or even words telling me how silly I am. I am sure I am not the only one this has happened to and I realize that doctors have lives too and some things can't be avoided.:tongue_smilie:

I'm sorry your surgery was pushed out ((((Marji)))). I think it is perfectly normal to be bummed out about this. The waiting game just sucks!

I would be devastated as well. I don't think your being silly at all. This is a momentous thing you are doing. You have to psych yourself up for all that is about to happen. Take a deep breath, it's going to be okay. Six days seems like an eternity, but find something to do to fill the time. Take on a small project...clean closets, volunteer, etc. My thoughts are with you...I am scheduled for 8/7/09 and it seems like forever away! Patty

They called me this past Monday and changed my date from July 20 to July 27. I know exactly how you feel! It is hard to be set back like this. Seems like one step forward two steps back. Stuck waiting until it happens and can't move forward until then. The liquid diet is getting on my nerves big time right now. When I first started it I was focused and counting the days down. This just really upset my mo jo.

Well we'll both get through it somehow. It just doesn't seem like it right now...

I had my surgery postponed twice. Both times it was 2 weeks prior, just as I was about to begin the pre-op diet. The first time I was a bit relieved, as I was still trying to eat all of the foods I though I might not be able to eat after being banded. LOL. The second time, I was really bumed out, as I had arranged for a friend to stay with me and would have had the extra time from the Memorial weekend to recuperate. I went down to the wire on my 3rd date, waiting for insurance approval and test results. I finally got banded on Jun 8. The pre-op frustrations are just a faded memory now, as I focus on my new life. Hang in there.. you'll be banded before you know it. The waiting is always the hardest part.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
