Depends on your doctor. I was only allowed Liquid Protein so lettuce would be a no. But different docotors have different programs.

I wouldn't do it. You are already thinking of ways to eat around your boundries. You need to be thinking of ways to stay within your boundries. It will be a long journey if you continue to think that way. LOL Not trying to be mean just honest.

You really need to talk to your doctor. Follow what ever plan he/she puts you on. This is very important, because by not following the pre-op diet you run the risk of having surgery and NOT coming out with a band.

After surgery, and AFTER you are back on solid foods, there is no reason not to eat lettuce unless it gives you problems. Raw green leafy vegetables are the easiest foods for me to eat. Cooked spinach, not so much.

This is about six weeks out of the rest of your life that you'll have to live without it...you can make it through that. Follow your doctor's orders! Good luck to you.

Depends on your pre-op diet. If you're on liquids, obviously the answer is no. My pre-op diet was 2 Protein shakes and 2 lean meals that consisted of 3-4oz of lean Protein and vegetables and, yes, I could have eaten lettuce but salad dressing would have been a no-no. Frankly, to me, lettuce isn't worth chewing because it has little in the way of nutrients and is mostly Water. Dark greens like spinach, turnip greens, and others are much more nutritious.

I suggest that if you don't have a written list of permitted foods for your pre-op diet, you should call your doctor's office and talk to the nutritionist or PA about any questions you have about the food list.
