Had surgery on 6/30....hungry

Recommended Posts

Hi, I had surgery last week 6/30 and I am still on full liquids and hungry. How did you guys stay on just liquids for so long? I looked at the paperwork and think I can switch to pureed foods on Sunday. I can't wait. This is hard. Seems like I get hungrier every day. I usually have carnation instant Breakfast in the morning and then 1 cup of Soup for lunch and 1 cup of soup for dinner. Sometimes in between meals I have a SF popsicle or Jello. Is there something I am missing that I could have to "fill up"?

Thanks

Is the pudding in addition to the 3 "meals" that I am having???

Call your doc tomorrow and ask what else you can have; usually when we're healing you can have pretty much "unlimited" liquid BUT...it depends totally on what the doc says. I for example couldn't have the pudding, but I could have sugar free Jello. Ask your doc! :smile2:

And hang in there! It will be over soon and it's worth it to let everything heal like it's supposed to.

Full liquids for me included yogurt and cream Soup so I would ask your doctor for clarification. I have learned from this site that every doctor has different ideas about pre and post op diet plans.

PS-if you can have cream soup get some potato or cheddar broccoli soup and blend it to death to get any little chunks out!

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
