Help with calories intake per day

Hi,

I have a question about calories in take per day. I read the calories intake poll and went to check my intake. My doctor told me not to count calories and just to focus on 1/2 -3/4 cups 3 meals a day. well, at first I was losing weight slowly but it does comes down; however, these past 3 weeks, I am stuck at the same weight. I wrote down what I eat and well i was surprise becasue it was only between 600-700 which I think it is not enough for me. I've tried to write down what I eat today and I am still at 710 (including dinner). I am at lost of how to increase my calories to be around 1000 -1200 with out eating bad stuff.

Can you guys show me what do you eat during the day?

Hi Alisa -

I usually get about 1200 calories in a day. I was at 900-1000 for a while but I just wasn't losing and my nutritionist suggested I increase my calories, that has made a huge difference. While it's not specific here's what I usually eat for my meals:

B: 3-4 ounces of Protein or 1 square of eggbeater egg bake

1/4 to 1/2 banana

L: 3-4 ounces of Protein (beef, chicken, fish, etc)

a dairy (low fat yogurt)

D: 3-4 ounces of protein

1/4-1/2 c of veggie

Now that I have restriction my amounts have decreased a bit, but I still have no trouble reaching my calories, usually 1100 is about the lowest for me.

Since your calorie count is so low, that is probably contributing to your slow weight loss. Today, try adding a snack of Protein .... a serving of cottage cheese, cheese, even leftover meat or (my fave) a few steamed shrimp. And make your dinner portion of protein a bit larger. Tomorrow, slight increase the size of your protein servings at all three meals enough to bring you up to about 1,000 - 1,100.

Try to remember that just bc something has calories doesnt mean it is bad (this is hard for those of us who have been on so many diets). I try and eat about a cup of meat Protein for lunch and dinner. Today it is pulled bbq chicken i made in the pressure cooker. Try hamburger patties with a piece of cheese on it, or a chicken breast, fish, etc.

Protein shakes (although not for me) might help. Some fruit like a banana, pineapple, etc can have around 90 calories. You can add 100 calorie packs of Snacks to your meal. We have skinny cow ice cream Snacks a couple times a week after dinner. Yogurt. Fiber bars...

Just some ideas!

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
