On pins and needles, waiting w/baited breath....

Recommended Posts

Whatever the saying, I'm anxiously waiting to hear back from my insurance BCBS MA. Can't sleep, eat or think straight; I guess the can't eat is a good thing. I've jumped through all the hoops and would be crushed if this didn't happened. Okay, I know - I'm doing my best to think along the lines that the glass is half full and this will be fine.

I know there shouldn't be any issues as a co-worker was approved and had bypass surgery in February 09; she says that they received approval w/n 2 business days. It's only been 3 days and I'm losing my mind.

How in the heck did you guys make it through the wait?

BCBS, from what I understand from other posts, and dealing with them with my brother, are pretty good at approving the band. I have heard they can be slow however, so I hate to see you get so anxious when you could have a small wait in front of you.

Try and realax.... I know, easier said than done. Keep us posted on here and come back to vent when necessary.

Best of luck to you!

I'm hanging in there. The person that handles insurance submissions at the surgeons office told me earlier this week that they're really fast (BCBSMA), she expects to have an answer this week - keeping fingers, toes and eyes crossed... I'll keep you posted and would love for you to do the same.

I hear you on the pins and needles! My surgeon's office submitted last Thursday and the patient coordinator said she'd likely know this week. I called today and she hasn't heard. So then I called CIGNA, it's still pending. The waiting....UGH!!!!!! I feel like we finally get up the nerve to do this surgery after researching, etc. and now we wait. Patience is a virtue right?? ;-)

I have BCBS of NJ and my paperwork was submitted on June 16th. I'm like you, very anxious, but everyone has told me they are good with approvals, but very s-l-o-w on the reviews. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping to hear from them soon!

That is great news! I am so glad that I am not the only one nervous as heck for the approval. I am hoping that my documents are sent to Cigna in less than one week. It's al that I can think about!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
