Anal?

I'm completely anal retentive to the point I often walk in circles crossing my T's and dotting my I's. I can't stand clutter or disorder, and even though I get pretty messy, I don't relax or think straight unless everything is tidy and in order. If my underwear, socks and earrings don't match, it's just a lousy day.

I drive my husband and boss nuts because everything has to be "just so" before it goes out. I color coordinate all my case binders. I can't just wash a load of laundry; I have to strip the linens from all rooms. Once my husband tried to go to work wearing mismatched socks and I nearly had a coronary. If I stick a stamp on crooked, I have to peel it off and restick it. Imperfection causes me great anxiety, which is why I'm such a nervous wreck.

So why doesn't this anal attitude roll over into my eating routine? Why doesn't my brain demand perfection in that area?

This one's for Francesca. How many people thought I was going to talk about back door sex?

Such a mystery isnt it? I often wonder why I've been able to achieve such other great things in life that have taken enormous willpower and hard work and yet not be able to stop putting crap in my mouth.

Um, yes, I thought that's what you were going to talk about, lol.

I don't have any advice on this one - I'm pretty laid back - but when the reigning "sexpert" posts a thread titled "anal" I have to look!!! :):):)

I feel pretty silly now. I guess I have a dirty mind...

You would THINK that a woman who insists on stacking a file exactly the same way every time would also insist on eating consistently and correctly - but HAIL no. It's anything goes on the food front.

I always figured my OCD at work was in response to my out of control life. I never wanted to try to let work get out of control to see whether the OCD would flip. I couldn't afford to be unemployed...

And Lisa - I knew you could be going with the Anal Retentive thing but I wasn't sure which way you were going to flip. One never knows when you will find yourself in the throes of Delarlaism and get WILD. :]

Hey Beanie, OCD made ya correct your own spelling ROFLMFAO !!!!

I like things organized and neat too. I feel so nasty and frustrated when its not. One of my problems is I have ADHD so for example, when my kitchen gets messy my brain says RUN!!! the job is overwhelming. So my house is either really clean or VERY MESSY. Most of the times its messy. I have very little hobbies because I feel that when I start something I won't finish it and most of the time that holds true.

When I saw the thread's title ANAL, I thought you were talking about me :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
