First Fill yesterday - starving today

Recommended Posts

Wanted to know if anyone else experienced this. I got my first fill yesterday....and today I am starving. I had a yogurt for Breakfast and now having some coffee and that would usually last me for a while....now 2 hours later and my stomach will not stop grumbling.

I am always starving after my fills, but its my own fault, I've only had 2, but on both of them I haven't eaten anything before my fill, once because I got busy and didn't have time, and once because I was thinking about my weigh in and didn't want to blow it with my lunch, silly I know! So after my fills I am starving!

I usually have my fill in the mornings, but I always eat a biscuit and some type of meat before I go. One time I ate this and my stomach still was gworing while my dr. was doing my fill. lol:smile:

Hi, I had my first fill today and one of the reasons that I was so eager to get the fill was because I was starving the days before. It seemed like as soon as the surgery swelling went down, I started to feel hungry then starving. My surgeon told me that the first fill would not "cure" the hunger feeling because he doesn't want to over fill on the first one, and since you should only eat like 2 oz for a few days after fill try to go about every 3 hours and have high Protein 2oz of something to help. Don't know if that will help you at all, but that's what I was told today. Now he scheduled my 2nd fill for next month and he said THEN you'll really not be hungry or starving anymore. Take care.

I've had 2 fills so far and I was starving after both. But thats because I don't eat anything on the day I'm getting a fill, and then for 3 days after fills I'm on Clear Liquids so I am always starving during that period. I had a fill 3 days ago, and I just had a Protein Shake - my first non-clear liquid in 3 days and boy did it taste great lol! I'm on full liquids now, for 2 days but that will be fine since at least I can get in my Protein and won't feel like I'm so hungry all the time!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
