What Happens When You Reach Goal?

Recommended Posts

I can't imagine what it's like reaching goal and then switching to maintain mode. What does THAT feel like? I've always been on the "gotta lose" track, so I'm curious about what happens when one reaches the finish line.

I know there are a lot of them out there, so I hope your question starts a conversation. For me, I'm going to re-evaluate when I reach the goal you see in my signature. I chose this goal (195) as I remember being happy with myself and my weight when I last weighed this. (1988 I think) I've been using the WII fit for awhile and it lists anything over 30.0BMI as obese and anything over 24.0 as overweight. Boy it sure is nice not to hear that little animated voice say, "That's obese" For me to get to the top of the normal range I would have to be 183, which i have not been since 1977 I think. Most people I discuss that with say that would be too thin. I'm not sure what I will do when I hit my current goal. I will probably make it while the weather is warm, but maintaining might be harder when it turns cold again. (But I lost my first half without excercise from Dec-Feb.) I don't know, as you can tell I'm uncertain, I'll watch and see how this devolops.

for me - i just keep doing what i started.

still keep an eye on what i eat (most days) - exercise 5 days a wk & watch my fill level.

i also still see my dr regularly, which i do believe helps.

i think maintaining is just as hard a losing - rather just staying on top of it. it's easy once you complete a goal to let yourself slide some; that for me would just counter all that i did - i know i would let myself overindulge.....so i stick with what works, again "most days"

When I reach goal I will be going on a 7 night cruise on the NCL Epic, the newest ship they have coming out next year, and it will be in a suite. I am saving now, as I hope to hit goal next year, just had surgery 4 weeks ago tomorrow.

Well, Steve, that sounds like a plan to me! Let someone ELSE eat the chocolate, LOL.

Weight Watchers always tells people who make it to goal that they need to stay within 3 pounds of their goal weight. Makes sense if you think about it. 3 pounds isn't too tough to lose. 30 pounds is another issue entirely. So you get to whatever goal you declare, weigh yourself weekly and if you have a big week and pick up a pound or two, go ahead and get rid of them before they are joined by friends.

This is where almost all of us have failed in the past. But I believe the band will help me to stay close to my goal weight at all times. Of course, I'm only a little over half-way to goal (I need to update my ticker to the 70 pounds I've now lost) but I'm with Billoh: It would be nice to see what all the successful bandsters do.

I will be checking those out as well. Congratulations on your journey and races! Racing is another thing that I can't imagine doing right now, but would be cool to try eventually.

Keep up the great work you guys! It comforts me that I too could be like you!

As far as the racing, I would call it running, yes its racing, but mainly against myself. Most of the time they call them 5K run, or 5k run/walk. You don't have to be a threat to win to participate.

Hey Billoh,

You are still racing! Aren't we all ultimately racing against ourselves anyway? I've still got a long way to go, just banded 7/3, but you're an inspiration!

Keep it up!

Tish

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
