Taking pills after banding???

Recommended Posts

I heard once that you cannot take pills once you have a band and that you have to get chewable/liquid medications. I have not seen anything like that on this board. Does anyone know about this?

They told me i had to take something like Flintstones (childrens) chewable Vitamins (taking 2, not 1), chewable Calcium tablets.

On my prescription, i will have to crush up the one large Metformin tablet i take and may have to open the capsule i take and put it in pudding. But im hoping to soon be off medications for high blood pressure and diabetes...

I did buy liquid tylenol for after banding on 7/7. Oh and i got a list of medicines i should no longer take after surgery. Things like advil, motrin, etc.

I have been taking normal medications and have not had any problems.

I take a Multivitamin, paracetomol and Bp meds all in tablet form. I don't crush them just take them with liquid.< /p>

Maybe once I have more fills they will cause problems but so far so good.

I was told not to take any pill larger than an advil. I alternate between Treader Joe's Gummy Multivitamin (love the taste) and GNC Solotron Multivitamin which are chewable wafers. I prefer the Gummys for flavor, but the Solotron has a lot more nutrients. I also take soft chew Calcium, which come in carmel or chocolate flavors. Viactiv makes them, but many local drug stores also have their own generic version. I like the taste & feel more like they are a treat, so usually take them at night. Viactiv also makes a soft chew Vitamin. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to.

Fortunately, my medications are small, or can be cut in half.

I take all my pills easily, including 2 potassium pills that are HUGE. It's no big deal. But then, my surgeon is one who expects his patients to have a normal life, able to eat anything, but small small portions. So far, so good! :tongue_smilie:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
