Only 6 More Hours Untill Banding

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I go in for my band in 6 hours. I cannot sleep. Normally I have to use Xanax to fall asleep (bad habit) and I cannot sleep. I have to leave for the hospital at 5am, I am finding every little pain in my body to be a thousand percent worse then it really is. I guess you could say I am freaking out. I have about 95 pounds to loose and I just want it gone. I wish they could Lipo me in the process.. Recovery time? Some people on here seem to be up and going with in a day or 2, I am taking 4 weeks off of work to get used to my new life style. Plus yet ANOTHER question, I am a professional singer, will this effect my singing voice, I never even thought about that, I am getting the jitters big time.. Anyone out there awake.

Good morning Jen, Congratulations. Don't worry you will be fine.

You may find that taking that much time off working against you. At least for me, getting back to work ASAP really helped distract me from any post surgical ailments. It really helped speed my recovery.

I actually inquired about voice change and any speech patern changes before the surgery and was told no. This has held true for me so far. I am an EMS Dispatcher and transmit on the radio, so my voice was a concern, I have lost 35 lbs and there has been no change.

I will hang out in the chat room for a while if get this in time and you want talk.

Congrats - you'll do fine :)

While it shouldn't mess with your voice at all, you'll probably have a sore throat for a few days after surgery, as sometimes they have to tube you during surgery.

Good luck .. and you'll have plenty of time to sleep later today if you miss out for a bit tonight lol.

Thanks guys, I am home from the hospital and took a shower..it felt sooo goood.

Anyone out there feel like thier belly is just totally bloated and HUGE after surgery? I feel very wobbly for the past 2 days...I don't think I could even contemplate putting normal pants on right this sec. How long will this "lost in space" feeling last?

Thank goodness you guys are out there

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
