Seminar July 15th. I have two lil girls..

Recommended Posts

Hi, My name is Lacey. I have been considering surgery since 04. I lost 45 pounds on my own then gained 70 since. I had a baby in 07, Anna, and another little girl in December of 08. I lost the pregnancy weight with my first but not with my second. I gained 20 pounds that won't come off! I registered with my lil sis in Chicago in March for a marathon. I was ready to really attempt to kick butt. I worked out maybe twice. I woke up one day and my knees hurt sooo bad. I went to the doctor and got a run around. I know that I am really overweight but the pain was sudden and hurt I wasn't making it up because I didn't want to lose weight. I felt like no one believed me.... I was in so much pain. I finally got x-rays and have Fluid in my R knee. I have an appt with an orth doc to see what is going on there. Since this happened to me I see no other choice is better than to be banded. I have no help with my girls, I love them but being in constant pain and having to bend to pick them up and change diapers. My GOODNESS it sucks. I also have a husband that says I complain about everything. HEllo I am in pain and it hurts. I am not being a baby. So I have my seminar coming up and hope everything goes according to the plan. I want this more than anything. I start school in Sept. I cant barely fit in the seats! Sucks. OH, anyone have a husband that doesn't think dinner is dinner without bread or totillas? Or that Cereal is not a brkfst??? It is like a resturant here!! Thanks for letting me vent here!

My place is like a restaurant as well. Hubby is very picky about what he eats and most of it plain unhealthy high calorie, high fat stuff. Makes life very hard. I hope your husband will learn about this option, go to the drs etc with you and support you. If not then do it for yourself and your girls and maybe he'll get on board as he sees your success and your complaints about pain lessen.

Liz

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
