can someone tell me if there is pain associated with stretching the pouch? i dont believe this is what i did as i eat the alloted amounts. i have a "cramp" in my abdomin area it is best to describe it as a stitch, or the cramp you get when you run. it doesnt hurt when i sit or lay down, and is relieved with tylenol, its a pulling feeling i hope i am describing this correctly can anyone help? its annoying and becoming concerning, about 2 days now. did yard work pretty strenuos could i have simply pulled something? what happens when you stretch the pouch ?? help any advice is appreciated. no nausea, no vomiting.:smile2:

Lisa,

When did you have your surgery? From what you are describing it could just be strained abdominal muscles. You said yourself that you did strenuous yard work and Tylenol relieved your pain. If your surgery was in May then it could be that you've aggravated the port which is normally stitched to the abdominal muscles. When in doubt call your Surgeon's answering service and speak to the on call.

Stretched pouch takes a long time of over eating the band abuse. Again if you just had your surgery you probable don't have total restriction yet so this is more than likely not your issue at the moment.

Take it easy over the rest of the weekend (no sweeping or excessive bending ect.) If your symptoms change (nausea, vomiting, severe pain) call your Surgeon's on call or go to the ER immediately.

Again, please be proactive in you after care and use the staff at your respective surgeons' office like they should be which is what they are there for. If you have major concerns call them and ask especially if you are still having issues with cramping or stitch like feelings on Monday.

Take it easy and have a wonderful 4th!!:smile2:

ok, I had the same pain, left side under my ribs like a charlie horse, or a stitch. It was from lack of Calcium. I get the same charlie horse pain in my legs from lack of Calcium. I started taking viactiv calcium chews and within a couple of days it was gone.

good luck:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
