Dr. Ross Mcmahon - My surgeon - love him!

Recommended Posts

Hi there, I'll keep this short, but if you're in the Seattle area looking for a WL surgeon, I highly recommend doctor McMahon. He's my surgeon, and he and his whole team are fantastic.

He's got a dedicated insurance specialist, dedicated bariatric nutritionist, and a whole team of support people, nurses, even therapists and psychologists.

The ladies who do his fills are super supportive and always available to help you out, answer questions, provide guidance and emotional support, and more.

I say all that to point out that if you're a patient of Doctor McMahon, you have tons of support, and are never without someone who can help you.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me, I'll be happy to answer!

It's fantastic to hear this. I attended one of his seminars in December and have my appointment on January 12, 2010 to see the whole team.

There were several times in his seminar where I almost bawled because he was so kind. I'm incredibly nervous about this life change, but not something I am going to go back on.

I think you'll really like his practice. I enjoyed the first visit, meeting everyone. Actually, it was all so unreal that I was there to begin with, when it came time if I had any questions, I just kinda stuttered a bit. Everything that I needed to know was already answered. Surgery day came and I met with everyone involved. Afterwards Dr. McMahon himself saw my husband in the waiting room to give him my update and I saw him the next day along with the Nutritionist to tell me shakes, lots of shakes and Water, lol. I think you'll have a good experience. OMG, I rechecked the date of when you said you appointment was. You already had it!! Oh well, I'll post this anyway for others who troll this site. But do tell of your experience.

Hi Seattle Sweetie,

I am also going to the SWL clinic. I haven't see much of Dr McMahon but love all his staff. I got my surgery date of Feb 14th. I'm very excited but also scared to death. It seems like since I got my date, I can't stop eating. LOL. I'm trying to find a local support group. Do you know of any? Would like to keep in touch. Thanks.

Hi there,

Did you ever find a local support group in Seattle? I am likely going to use Dr. McMahon. Any thoughts on UW?

Peter

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
