Was a beautiful one. No gas, two incisions, just soreness on the incisions and the hospital staff monitored me and provided the support I needed. It was a beautiful awakening from anesthesia, now I am home, excited for every new day ahead!

I'm glad things went so smoothly. I hope to be saying those same words in the next two weeks.

Wow Iris! That's fantastic!

I was banded the same day as you. I have 6 incisions! Only the big one is tender. Otherwise I've had no problems either. I'm a lazy toad & taking 2 weeks off work lol.

How are you going with your post op diet? I feel like I could eat a horse at times but am sticking to the instructions as I dont want to do any damage.

Good luck with your journey. You're off to a great start

Jen

Jen,

I was very hungry last night possibly because everything came out (sorry to be so blunt, lol) I have a followup appointment tomorrow, and besides a minor headache from time to time, I am doing well. Just staying in the home and relaxing, walking, drinking Water (ughhh), broth, etc. My only issue is the carnation instant Breakfast (yuck!) Maybe its the vanilla flavor but a e-buddy told me to get slim fast and that should suffice. There is also this bariatric shop by my home so I may go there, they blend drinks to see what you like before you make a purchase. They take online orders if you are interested heres the link http://www.bariatriceating.com/

Good luck on the rest of your journey and I hope you have great success! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
