vjsmiles 0 Posted July 3, 2009 I get my taxes done at H & R Block. I called them last week and asked them if lap band is considered a tax write off. She said it is as long as you have a dr's. note. Anyone had experience with this? Did it help at tax time? I haven't even talked to my PCP yet, but plan to soon.
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted July 3, 2009 I am not a tax pro (but frankly neither are many at H & R block! they do get training but not in depth like, say, a CPA) ANYWAY I think you can write off any medical expense if it is something like more than a percentage of your income, for example. If I were you I'd check out the IRS website for "medical tax deductions" or something like that. Trust me, your doc cannot approve a deduction, if you get my drift. The IRS decides, taxes aren't usually on a "case by case" basis. Check it out.
kimaly 57 Posted July 3, 2009 I wrote mine off this year. It had to be 10% of our income. combined with other surgery my DH had we just hit it.
