Hi! My name is Pam. I was banded on June 8, 2009. I have a husband and a 8 year old daughter. I am 48 years old. I am looking forward to meeting others who are going through the same process.

Hi Devana, I was banded on June 8th in Victoria, BC by Dr. Amson. Where abouts are you located? I lived in Fairmont Hot Springs from the time I was 12 years old until I was 20. Then I moved to Saskatoon and have been here every since. My brother still lives in Canal Flats, BC.

Pam

Hi Pam. I'm near Duncan. I know lots of people who either have had surgery or are waiting for surgery with Dr Amson. I thought he only did bypass, though.

Where are you going for your fills?

Hi Devana. I will be getting my fills here in Saskatoon. Dr. Amson made up a disc for me to bring back so that a doctor here could watch it and do my fills here.

I get my first fill on July 22 and can hardly wait. I am losing weight but and finding it a little easier to eat than it was at first and am scared that I will start eating more. So far I have lost appox 45lbs in the first month. I hope it continues, but now I have to stop weighing myself every day and maybe do it once a week.

Hi Sheila:

That is great! Where are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Are you finding it a little difficult getting around on the site? I find it a bit frustrating sometimes, but once I get more time on the site I am sure it will become easier.

Have a good day!

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the site too and just exploring. I had my surgery on June 9 and so far, so good. I'll be getting my first fill on July 30 and have been enjoying what I've been seeing on the site. It's very helpful. Look forward to some good advice/posts. I can use all the help I can get!

Good luck!

I only have one daughter who is 8 will be 9 in Sept. She is a handful at times. I can't imagine having two at my age. At least she keeps me busy and keeps my mind off food most of the time. We just moved from Saskatoon, a bigger city, to Warman, a small town, and she loves it. I like it too as she goes out and play now instead of watching tv.

Hope to get to know you better.

Hi bandgal50: Are you looking forward to getting the fill? I will be getting my first fill on July 22 and am kind of nervous about what will happen at the fill and how the food will go down after that. I am finding it a little easier to eat now that it was last week, so am looking forward to some restriction.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
