with my band I believe. On Monday I had food back up. I ended up getting sick...harder than I ever have before. I even had dry heaves. I felt relief after, but now every since, after just a bite or two of food, I have that chest pressure/pain like something is stuck. I have been careful to chew chew chew and eat soft things. Even my Water is not going down like it has been.

On a side note, I did have my third fill last Thursday. I noticed right away that this fill was different from the ones before because I was feeling restriction right away...even with my liquids.

When I got sick on Monday, is it possible that my band slipped and now I have a problem? Or, could it be that there is still food lodged there?

I've been uncomfortable since Monday, but now I'm starting to feel a bit miserable...when I eat. Help!

Thank you!

Hi

I am scheduled for my first fill on 07/09. So, I can't offer any advice there. However, if your band 'feels weird' and you're concerned about, you should call your doctor's office and speak to someone about it.

Hope you feel better soon

After your bad incident, did you go on liquids only for 24 hours or so? I've read that is often recommended (didn't get it from my doc though, just anecdotal here)

Either way, if even Water is hurting or causing pain then you may have, at least, irritated your esophagus.

Call your doc and get some guidance; they may want you to come in, or just do liquids and then slowly progress back up to regular food again. Best if a pro makes the call!

Good! Since the 4th is coming up you don't want to end up in the ER! Your surgeon's office won't mind you calling and telling them what's up with you...better safe than sorry. You're learning a whole new way of eating; it's a process. Good luck!

That happened to me once, too. My band was tighter for a few days because my stomach was irritated from the PB/vomit episode. I just went on liquids for 2 days and that helped.

Of course, there is no substitute for asking your doctor, but this worked just fine for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
