I've been banded for about 2.5 months. I'm learning alot more about the band post-op recently, and mainly learning about slider foods and things that will help me feel full the longest.

What are you favorite meals now that you've had the surgery?

Grilled veggies are my fave!!! That with whatever meat I make whether it's chicken or turkey tenderloin.

Pork really fills me up, seriously I can eat a pork chop and not need to eat again for 10 hours, also steamed veggies fill me up and keep me satisfied as well. For Breakfast I try to have a Protein Drink or oatmeal with Protein Powder. lunch this week was half a pita filled with a mix of feta, cucumber, red pepper, cilantro, lemon juice and chicken, and dinner was my almost fried chicken and almost fried green tomatoes made in the oven. I love to cook!

The things you want to watch are ice cream, chips, crackers, chocolate, puddings and Cookies, these will not keep you satisfied and you'll probably be able to eat an endless amount of them because they will not stay in the pouch.

I've been on a serious salmon kick. I'll have salmon and spinach or broccoli for lunch and dinner every time I have the opportunity. Another favorite for lunch is a pita filled with a chopped salad of romaine, raw cabbage, cajun turkey, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, and a splash of fat free italian dressing.

I dont have real 'favourite' meals but I notice a lot of meals that I dont want to eat as much.

any dinner that consists of a piece of meat and vegetables is much less appealing to me. I used to love lamb loin chops, and we ate those a lot, and a piece of steak on the barbecue. I just look at that now and cant be bothered eating it, too hard, too dry, just not enjoyable any more. Even a roast dinner with all the trimmings, meh, cant really be bothered.

Stir fries, ugh, dont want them.

I'm much more partial to my meat and veges being cooked together in some sort of curry, casserole or stew and served on something nice and moist like mashed sweet potato.

Unfortunately Pasta goes down really well, the creamier the sauce the yummier, lol, but I do eat that sort of thing in strict moderation.

I love Soup too, I can spend entire afternoons making lovely Soups. My fave is a moroccan lamb shank soup that's flavoured with cinnamon, and has loads of vegies, lentils, chick peas in it. You serve it with a dollop of natural yogurt and a squeeze of lemon juice - divine!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
