:confused:I am scheduled for Lap Band on 07/15/2009...I've read the comments, while they are helpful I'm getting nervous. Can someone note "it was worth it". Guess I'm just a wimp.

I'm just in the beginning stages and I have my first fill on 07-07-09. I got stomach flu right out of the hospital so it was iffy for a couple of days but I am great now and it was definitely worth it for me. Good Luck.

I LOVE my band. I would duel to the death to keep it. I've never EVER had a moment's doubt about it. Loss was very slow for me at first because my doc is very conservative with fills but STILL worth every cent.

I can eat any food I want. If I make good choices (like something Protein dense like chicken breast or steak) I stay FULL for a good 6 hours. Miraculous. Weight is coming off nicely now. I wouldn't trade my band for a million dollars.

If you have specific fears, post and they can be addressed.

The major change it has made in my life is this: I am in control now. not my cravings. ME. I think it is wonderful.

I'm about 48 hours post-op. Honestly, my biggest fear was not coming out of surgery, but everything went fine.

When I came out, my mouth was completely dry. I couldn't swallow the Water from the ice they gave me, because those muscles weren't awake yet. My CPAP just made it worse, so I had to force myself to stay awake.

Then they rolled me into my room, and soon gave me lunch. That helped my throat a lot and things got a lot smoother from there.

I'm quickly learning what the band considers a "sip" versus a "swallow" in my liquid diet. It took me all afternoon to eat about 4oz of Soup and 8oz of Water the day of surgery, but I'm now approaching what I expect to be considered "normal" volume -- at least for liquids. You, too, will quickly learn that if it feels like brocolli is stuck in your throat, that you should wait until it's gone.

I gained 4# during surgery from fluids. That's already gone, plus at least another pound or two. I haven't been this light in over 3 years. At the beginning of April I was 350. I should be 300 in the next few days.

It's worth it. Absolutely.

Except for hiccups. I hate those. :tongue2:

And the residual pain from where the port is stitched to the underlying muscle. That hurts, especially when I do something that uses my abs, like getting out of bed or the sofa or the toilet. Have someone willing to help you do things that would require bending over, and swear them to secrecy.

And definitely use the bathroom all you can pre-op. You're not going to want to .. tense up .. while using the toilet for a while. :)

But compared to the aches, pains, fasciitis, knee troubles, and constant fear of a chest pain turning out to be something worse .. this is a cake walk.

I too love my band and feel that for once in my life my brain and my stomach are working together. Before I was banded I would read stories about bandsters having to have their band taken out or

replaced and I couldn't believe how upset they were I mean come on it's just a band... Well I get it now, band=life!!!

Hi Rhonda,

I love my band. I no longer have hypertension and no longer classified "morbidly" obese. I just switched insurance companies. They do not cover "morbid" obesity, my band or other conditions such as high cholesterol for one full year. I don't know how they get away with it. They consider these conditions things I brought on myself with my weight. The claims person compares this with a person who smokes. I think this is rediculous, but to not get off the subject you will LOVE your band.

I advise you not read any negative posts for now. Those scare me even still.

I advise the Before and after thread. It helped me make this decision two years ago. I love looking at the pictures!

Really gives you a lot of encouragement and the people are so nice that post.

Also, the Plastic Surgery thread is good too. I love to see what great improvements people have made.

Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
