Operation in EUROPE !!!!

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

This is my second thread, and I wanted to thank all the people who supported me and gave me their knowledge and experience about the band, and here I decided to do the operation:) :) :)

<O:p</O:p

I live in <ST1:pSwitzerland and will be for a while, and I’m looking into doing the operation here in Swiss. Just wondering if anyone knows about how the operation is done in <ST1:pEurope</ST1:p, or if it done differently from the States.

<O:p</O:p

I read on the forum someone speaking about a Swedish band and how it’s different. So I just was wondering if you have any ideas about doing the operation in Europe, and whether if doctors back in the States<ST1:p</ST1:p would accept to do my fills and so on.

<O:p</O:p

Thanks a lot

I had my Band in Italy with Dr. Franco Favretti (apparently he was one of the Team which designed the proceedure for installing the Band without large incisions...can't remember what it's called). Anyway, he is apparently well known in the Lap Band Community. I live in San Francisco...had my first fill recently and in making phone calls to the various Doctors in the area some didn't want to take a patient whose surgery they didn't do, but once I mentioned Dr. Favretti's name, NO ONE refused to see me. I am getting ready to move OUT of the States, myself, and the reason I chose Favretti was in part because he was known in the Community...I figured the better known the better for those of us who are trotting around the globe.

Hi Magic -- you might want to check in with Pink Mary (I think that's her name); she had her band installed in Europe for a very reasonable price.

Well, for the price difference between the US and Greece, we could all come there and spend two weeks recuperating! :]

Wow - $3500 Euro is only about $4200 US. I figure I could throw another couple thousand on top of that for the airfare and hotel... So, Mary - Who IS your doc?

nahh after Olympics i don't think theres any other place more expensive than Athens

lol :) now we pay the party :) :)

as about the sceptre of the most FAT country in Europe i think Greece takes the gold medal lol :( the statistics says so

my doctors name is Christos Sahpazidis ( ya ya i know its sounds very Greek :)

he and his team have a site http://www.paxysarkia.gr/en/default.asp

pahisarkia in greek means obesity.

theres also one more dr team in University Hospital of Patras

(Patra is another big city) that they do successful Band and RNY procedures

but i didn't want to go to other city for a surgery.

i met also 2 more band surgeons, i was sutissfied with all but i choosed

Dr Sahpazidis because a friend of mine went to him also and plus my husband

liked him as a surgeon ( my husband is urologist surgeon ).

Thanks, Mary. I will have to find out whether there is anybody here who will do aftercare behind your doc. If there is, I will be needing a translator!!

Just think, Greece could keep those tourist dollars coming in by advertising the cheap weight loss surgery to the world. "Lose a little fat, Get a little history in Greece"

:]

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
