Fun, fun, fun at the park

Recommended Posts

OK. This is so bizarre, you couldn't make it up. It was like watching one of those "almost funny because it's so disturbing" excuses for a sitcom that seem to be the only thing left on TV lately...

Today I went to a little cafe at this park that has a walking tour of several different flower gardens, and I really should have planned the trip better, but I'm kinda new so.... They didn't have a lot of good choices, and I ended up with a half of a turkey on 9 grain. I was looking for something healthy, and kind of trying to weigh that against whether or not I can get it down. Only I kind of know that I am still a little too tight to be doing breads right now, but what the hey? I think I'll go slow and give it a try. Long story short, I am in the bathroom because my plan didn't work so well. At this park, there are no stall doors. I really don't care because I am not all that bashful, but this kid comes up and tries to strike up a conversation with me. She's like 7 or 8 yrs old, and she probably should know not to talk to strangers. She comes up and asks what I am doing. I said I was sick. Barp. Then she asks why am I sick. I told her I just didn't feel good, but I would be OK. :cursing: Barp. Then she asks-- are you throwing up? I said--kind of. Barp. Then she calls over another little friend to watch me barf and explains to her that I am sick, but I'll be OK. The friend asks me if I have the flu. I said, I don't know. Barp. I'd REALLY like to be alone, though.

Jeesh. I wanted to find their mothers and explain that sometimes, teaching your children not to talk to strangers is for the benefit of the stranger! :tongue2:

I have an 8 year old myself(boy). I feel bad but I would have probably told the kid to "Leave me the HELL alone" I wouldn't have been mad at them just annoyed.:tongue2: I would feel bad later but the parents need to teach their kids manners. The good thing about kids that young is that they don't take things so personally like us adult..... Jennifer

The kid probably wan't up enough on current events to understand, " I have the highly contagious swine flu" (H1N1) but the swine term may scare a kid away more.

Funny, Bill! I couldn't do it, though. I am a school teacher. I didn't want to scare the kids. I just wanted them to GO AWAY. The whole thing was so weird it was just funny.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
