How do I get rid of all this water?

Recommended Posts

I have no idea why but I am retaining Water badly.

I drink plenty of water. I try not to use things high in salt.

I can not figure out why I am holding this water. Is it because of the heat and humidity?I know lemon is good at getting rid of water any other ideas?

I was banded 3 weeks ago. am not losing any weight. and holding water. Help. I am totally depressed. I know the first 6 weeks are for healing not for weight loss, But I do not understand how I can take in 800 cal. or less and not lose weight.

Will it really be that much different after I get a fill?

I am just really bummed...

Thanks for listening to me again...lol

Okay...your poor body is just freaking out because something weird happened to it. I was VERY bloaty for several weeks post op. It's just part of the whole process. Just have to bear with it. Also, don't expect your poor body to be trying to lose weight here. Just be patient, please! I know it's tough. I promise that soon enough your body will start throwing off that Water it's holding on to and the scale will let you know. Sad for me the way my body finally got rid of water was when I began having terrible diarreah. Not good.

Patience, grasshopper!!

Amy it is just like we are experiencing the same fears! I guess because we were banded at the same time. I take blood pressure medicine but he took me off of the diuretic and now I am just taking the pill for my pressure. I think everyone is expecting me to drop alot of weight like the gastic bypass people and we won't do that. I think that maybe in our own minds we think the weight is gonna just fall off automatically, but so far it ain't happenin'. I think in about a month or 2 we will see the progress. I think that I am gonna be one of those who works better with fills cause right now I can eat more than 4oz at a sitting. I have gained and lost the same 4 lbs since initially losing the 19lbs. My nutritionist says that is because I progressed to the mushie stage. I hope that when we get to eat our own choices the solid foods that we will see the difference. Hang in there bandsister. We can do it!

It is always so helpful to know that others have been here and done that. Thanks.I know what you mean about the diarrhea. That kicked in today. Hey maybe its a good thing...lol

Diva, I know what you mean about people expecting weight loss. I guess I fall into that myself. I hope the fills will help. I can eat more than 4 oz at a time but I am manging to keep my cal. at or below 800.

I am also on high BP meds. not a diuretic tho.

Well i will keep pluggin along and hope that I am not one of the ones that band wont work for...

Amy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
