Ok, can we eat salad? Ha ha.

I LOVE salad but I've been avoiding it because I remember seeing it on a list of foods to stay away from. I'm like 5 weeks out now.

I never knew if that was just because my stomach was healing or if its just something that doesn't go down easily or is hard to digest.

If anyone has an answer please let me know.

I've had chopped celery before and I had no problem with that. So hm.....

I'm almost a year out and I still eat salads. I just eat a little bit with fat free dressing. I have had no problems with it.

Salads are ok if you can tolerate them, but they do go against band rules which say you should have Protein first. A salad will digest faster than dense protein, so you will get hungry faster.

Oh, I love salads. I eat them almost every day. I eat bib lettuce, romaine, spinach, kale.... I saw that thread, too, and I really don't know what could be bad about salads unless, like with everything else, a person didn't chew-chew. It is also probably, just like everything else, different for each person. I say give it a try! :tongue2:

I am glad to see this post. I am hungry for salad and now I guess I will try one for the first time since banding. I think I will put grilled chicken and a boiled egg in and eat that first then the lettuce. Make sure I get all the Protein first. Thanks guys.

I was scared to eat salads, but had my first one yesterday and it was just fine and SUPER delish- I missed it!

Like everyone else says- just be sure to chew- small bites and CHEW!

It's all trial and error, everyone's body reacts differently to different foods. I hope it goes well for you.

Don't have any problems whatsoever with salad. Goes in and down just fine.

I love it and I can eat it. I chop it all up completely before eating. It's actually an easy way for me to get my Protein with the cheese, egg, and I use FF lunchmeat (which goes down easier than chicken) and veggies. The dressing lubes everything up real good too! Low fat when using fat free dressing. I personally think this is a great choice.

BMooney, I would actually have far more trouble with the grilled chicken than I would the salad. Chicken can be dry, and I can't take more than a bite or two without eating much of anything else. Just a thought...

I haven't had any problems with salad as of yet. As always, chew, chew, chew.

Initally they don't want you to eat uncooked vegtables or fruit because of risk of bacterial infection. Banannas are an exception since they are sealed in their skin and that can be peeled away.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
