What are some foods you aren't able to eat now?

Recommended Posts

Ugh I can't keep track of all these things I can no longer eat after surgery!

Not the fattening stuff... the things that will NOT go down at all. It seems sometimes I can handle certain things and sometimes it takes a lot to not throw up.

Like yesterday, I was at a resturant, I ate a BITE of wheat bread that came with dinner... Oh my gosh, I've never felt so sick in my life!

I spent 10 minutes in the bathroom throwing up. It was awful & embarassing... but honestly... I had no idea I couldn't eat that or else I would've never tried!

Its weird. I've had a toasted slice of bread before and it went down just fine. I've had wheat wraps and I had an egg white flat bread sandwich from Dunkin' Donuts. I took off one slice of bread from the sandwich but I was able to eat it easily.

I'm terrified of feeling sick like that.... especially in public... so I'm always sure to chew well and go very slow. Its a lot to remember. I like that I eat less. I don't feel so sluggish and bloated all the time. I'm dropping weight... but regardless of what I eat, even if its one of my "safe foods" I have this fear before I put anything in my mouth. :rolleyes2: *sigh*

Anyway, what do you guys have a lot of trouble eating after surgery?

Nothing, but that might because of my low restriction. There are a lot of things that can get me stuck, but nothing I can't eat if I am careful, and for me, being careful is for more than I use to do with my diet.

I can't even look at brownies without getting nauseous... which is fine. Cookies are the same. I do believe chips are "sliders" for some, but not for me. They make me feel gross

As far as healthy foods... I can't handle carrots, nor tuna. Not sure why.

I only had one fill, but so far I don't have anything on my "do not eat" list. Dry chicken is hard to get down, but besides that, sadly, I can eat anything (or at least, I haven't eaten anything to make me sick).

Since my last fill 2 weeks ago, I can't eat these: bread, nuts, Peanut Butter, dry meats, breaded chicken and fish are hit and miss, grapes, cantaloupe if it's firm at all, cheese that isn't melted can be a problem. I'm sure I'll find lots of other things that are too much trouble to even try to eat, but there are still plenty of things I can eat. It's a shame that ice cream still goes down with no trouble at all. I just stay away from it.

I have great restriction and thankfully can eat anything. But my doc filled me slowly and advanced me slowly...that might have really helped.

I have pretty good restriction now, just recently, I realized that I can not eat smothered okra and tomatoes. I ate this 3 or 4 times before I knew this was what was causing the PBing. I guess too much Fiber, but I can eat brocholli raw. Don't try to figure it out, everyone is different.

just curious...how many cc's is your band and how full is it? I want to be able to eat things like nuts, peanut butter, and fish cheese anyway I want it...must make sure to make my MD aware these things are a must for me

I have 7 ccs in a 10 cc band. I think I'm going to have a slight unfill next month. I think I would like to be a bit looser and not have to be soooo careful all the time. bread and eggs (which I forgot to mention before) were the only things I had problems with before this fill.

I have 7cc's in a 10cc band--there isn't anything I can't eat. I keep reading about "can't eat this and can't eat that" I honestly don't think I'm just lucky--but I don't know what it is.

I've not been stuck, not felt sick, nothing.

I can't eat tuna or chicken salad...chicken and fish are both hit or miss. I don't particularly enjoy pork, but I have never had a problem with it. I can eat bacon all day.

I call my band psycho because sometimes I can eat one thing and other times I can't.

I have really good restrition and i can eat about anything. As long as i chew really well. If i don't chew really well sometimes i feel the pain in my chest untill it gets down to my pouch. I can't eat bread alone but if i eat it on a sandwich or something it goes down i think that is because you chew it up with meat and stuff so it isn't as Gummy going down.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
