GeorgiaSuperMom 0 Posted June 29, 2009 I am on BCBS of GA and looking into a breast reduction as well as a Tummy Tuck. Has anyone had these procedures that were covered by BCBS? If so, I'd love to hear how you went about getting them covered and if you're glad you did it!
JENNIFER7375 3 Posted June 29, 2009 (edited) im covered under BCBS of new jersey.from what ive looked into no insurance covers a breast reduction or a Tummy Tuck. the breast reduction maybe if you are having back problems related to the weight of your breasts. as far as the tummy tuck ive never net anyone that didnt have to pay out of pocket for theres. i think some insurances may pay for removal of the excess skin on your stomach, again if you are having persistent or infested sores in the folds of the skin or other complications related to excess skin. but its only for the skin removal part not the actual tightening of the stomach muscles. all insurances are different so id check to see what yours will or wont cover. good luck Edited June 29, 2009 by JENNIFER7375 spell check
Sue Magoo 71 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi: I got partial coverage from BCBS Hmo Blue New England. They covered the panniculectomy portion of my Tummy Tuck. My out of pocket cost was $7,000. I'm very glad that I got it done, but it was alot more painful than I expected, primarily due to nausea and dry heaves. I'd do it again in a heartbeat though. I had rashes under my tummy's excess skin. The rashes were documented and photographed by both my band surgeon and the plastic surgeon. It took about 3 weeks to get the approval, but it did get approved. Best wishes to you in getting some coverage from BCBS. I love my band and my new flat tummy!
