I don't specifically about drinking something cold, but I know a lot of people have pretty bad gas pain for a few days post-op (but it subsides). For me, I didn't have any shoulder pain (which seems common) but I had REALLY bad pain in my neck (all the way around the whole thing). It was to the point that when I was laying down it felt like I was going to choke. I was concerned about it but it actually went away after 1 day. The gas pain should subside soon. Congrats on your recent surgery!

hi trina, i have that pain too. mine hurts worse in the morning or when i first stand up. surgery was on 6/24. i have found that for me a gentle strech and holding my breath for a few seconds helps a little. good luck :rolleyes2:

I had extremely bad neck and shoulder pain for at least 4 days following surgery. By day 4-5 the pain started to disappear (thankgod) but yes, it is normal...(I think).

I had the gas pains really bad for a full week...then 2 days of shoulder tip pain...that was REALLY bad...i would last about 10 minutes and go away for a couple of hours...I did take the gas-x strips and the chewables...a heating pad helps...walk walk walk. However, to sleep I had to take the liquid pain meds and I would wake just in time for the next dose. hope this helps...it will go away though

I was banded on the 24th and had uncomfortable gas too. Gas X strips really helped -- take the maximum you can! Yesterday, I burped and burped and finally felt SO much better!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
