I had my first fill on Wed. I got 4cc's in a 9cc band. He had to stick me twice to get it in the port...very minimal pain however. Just a tiny prick. He told me a week on liquids...but today I am starving...so I am doing a cream of mushroom Soup. It sure tastes good! I am just taking it very slow and making sure everything is going down good. I felt my band when he put the fill in...it sort of felt like a balloon filling which makes sense. It didn't hurt at all though. I have been sticking to Clear Liquids until today....well...this evening. There are lot's of different responses to how soon one can eat after having a fill. Some say they had to wait a few hours and then could basically eat whatever went down okay. Some say they had to be on liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies for two weeks. Maybe it not only depends on the surgeon...but maybe the type of band and how large the band is and how much of a fill you get. Also the diet was vague...it said liquids but only mentioned a few choices. Maybe they meant soup was okay as a liquid as long as it was a cream soup. Who knows...but I am just sticking to common sense and hope this fill at least reduces what I can eat somewhat. So far it's too soon to tell.

After a fill I have to be on liquids for 2 DAYS & mushies for 2 DAYS. Most of the posts seem to have similar instructions (1 or 2 days of each), although some can eat right away, if they can handle it. We all have different reactions and in addition to what our doctors tell us, we also need to pay attention to what our bodies are telling us. After 2nd fill last week, when I started back on solids, I absent-mindely munched on dry Cereal, and immediately felt tightness. Fortunately it passed after about 5 minutes. That was 4 days ago, and I still am not interested in eating solids. I am mainly having soft foods, and will avid solids until I feel comfortable swalling them again - hopefully very soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
