Hi. I had my surgery on 7/10 with Dr. Weiss at Hazard. It was an okay experience. I really like Dr. Weiss very much. I had a hiatal hernia repair with my surgery so it was a little different. I've had quiet a bit of pain with it and major amounts of gas. I've been told this is normal with the hernia repair. Dr. Weiss and Anita were great at the hospital. They really took good care of me and I can't complain about the care at all. Good luck with your surgery!

Good luck amethyst! I had my banding in May 08. To date I have lost 95 pounds. I am kinda stuck right now. Feeling a little blue. Need some support and encouragement. Need to hear some stories with the same problem.

Yeah, I got a little nervous. Things like, am I really ready for this? Will I be able to do it? I kept thinking, I am really tired of going to the fat section in the clothing store. Tired of not being able to bend over and paint my toenails without passing out from lack of oxygen. I don't regret a minute of it. You are doing a good thing for yourself. You will be fine, I am real excited for you. Please keep in touch and let me know how it goes. I think I also need a fill, my doc wouldn't put any in because I had lost a few pounds. Think maybe I will give him some crocodile tears the next time...lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
