How quickly did your diet advance after surgery??

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Just a question. I was banded June 12 and am dying for a little meat (ie: hamburger or lunch meat). When were you allowed to leave the mushies and go to these meats? ? I do not want to go against doctors orders, especially if it will hurt me, but want to see if anybody else got meats sooner.

Thanks

Michelle

I was banded the 10th and I am allowed things like chicken and tuna salad, as well as lunch meats. No red meat though. The meat has to be moist too. I buy the canned chicken for the chicken salad and I buy ground turkey for dinner type meals. I mince the turkey up pretty well though. Just make smart choices about the types of meats.

I believe day 14 I was able to eat meats from a can, chicken, tuna and ham. The ones from the can are very moist and I even added a bit of broth to give it a more pureed feel.

You're allowed to eat tuna fairly quickly, I know that.

But chicken [shredded] and ground turkey/beef was on my soft foods list and that I wasn't allowed until 21 days after surgery.

It goes liquids, full liquids, puree, soft foods, no restrictions usually. And about 2 weeks or so in between each. I have no restrictions in the 1st week of July but there are still things I wouldn't dare try to eat.

I am on three weeks liquid but, I can have yogurt.I was wondering the same thing I have notice that most folks are able to go to mushies after 2 weeks. I really don't I am going to make it three weeks.

My doctor told me a day or two of Clear Liquids, then full liquids till the one week mark, then mushies, then one week later regular diet. so ill be on no restrictions at the 2 week mark

I had turkey chili a few times on my post-op full liquids diet. I just would blend it with some chicken broth and nonfat Greek yogurt (tastes like sour cream) to thin it out. Was totally fine and went down well.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
