Hello Everyone,

I was banded August 7th 2008

I have lost just over 30lbs

I guess I am a slow loser

I wanted to join this thread to see if I could meet more people like me, maybe lend each other a hand when needed.

I also want to try to meet some new people that like me have struggled along the way.

Feel free to message me

I will respond

I hope I can talk to some of you

Take care and have a fantabulous day!

Stacy

Hi Stacy! Welcome! I don't post on the site to much, but I do read a lot.

I too am a slow loser like you. I am sure it would come off faster if I would eat better! I am up to 9.5cc in a 10cc band so I am as full as I am going to get. I like where I am at band wise I just need to make better choices in food!

I'm on the slow track too. After about a zillion fills, I finally started to get restriction in March. Things got better, but the fill progress has been slow. I'm losing a steady 4-5 lbs a month, so at least I'm losing instead of gaining.

Do not focus so much on how much volume you have in your band. It is likely that some of it is what primed your tubing so it is not part of the 10cc volume of the actual band.

While trying to troubleshoot my slow loss I've found out 2 important things:

1. I eat way too many foods that aren't bulky. They aren't necessarily sliders or mushy, but they also aren't things that I have to chew more than a couple of times. This keeps me from feeling full!

2. Calories are calories no matter what kind they are. Calorie-wise there is no difference between Proteins and chocolate; 100 calories is 100 calories. The major choice I have to make is whether I want to spend those calories eating one chunk of chocolate or 6 bites of chicken. The chocolate is easier, but the chicken is more filling (see #1).

I'm still learning every day :)

Welcome! Sorry I didn't find this thread sooner. I don't always get to spend as much time on here as I want!

I'm a slow looser too. Was doing okay, then got a serious stick at Easter and had to get unfilled. :smile2: Now we're slowly refilling me and I really need another fill! I have to wait til the end of July for it. In the meantime, I have to try not to eat the entire kitchen!

Lana has some good points. Lamv, does too. Another thing I'd like to add, is right now, while you're struggling, track every bite of food going in your mouth. I have to track or I over eat. A lot. Now, I might still go over but it's not by much and it's not very often. Before tracking, I basically ate all day. Sad, I know.

I use dailyplate and it seems to work well for me. There are other free tracking sites out there but I don't know anything about them.

Take care. Keep posting and we can all support each other!

Have a great weekend!

Thank you all soooooo much for the posts! :smile2:

Sorry I have not been on here in a few days.

Work got waaaaay busy!!!

I go back in on the 20th of July for a weigh in.

I have really started to watch what and when I eat.

For Breakfast I have a banana and slim fast then

for lunch I have 1/2 to 3/4ths of a smart ones meal

then for dinner I have usually chicken breast and vegi's

or fish...

I also have started to exercise more, I try to go walking at least 4 to 5 times a week, and I started parking farther away at work so I have to walk more.

Oooh AND I got me a brand new 2009 Mazda 6 on the 4th of July  She is my baby!!!

Ok I think that's enough for now haahah.

Lets keep posting and supporting each other!

Much LOVE

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
